Job summary

DEKRA North America seeks a Managing Director, Process Safety Laboratory in Princeton, NJ to lead on-site safety culture, P&L, and laboratory operations. You will drive performance, coach a multi-disciplinary team, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

You will partner with Sales, Marketing, Consulting, and shared services to translate market demand into capacity, while maintaining Rigorous safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in process safety testing or lab operations with leadership.
• Experience with P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
• Strong leadership, communication, and change-management skills.
• Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 and quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the Princeton site P&L, annual operating plan, forecasts, capital priorities, and performance against revenue, margin, and budget commitments.
• Lead the site growth plan by connecting market opportunities, pricing, capacity, staffing, and investment decisions.
• Provide on-site leadership for daily laboratory operations with clear ownership and escalation paths.
• Establish and monitor practical operating metrics for safety, quality, turnaround time, and financial performance.
• Drive standard work and continuous improvement across inquiry, testing, quoting, project setup, scheduling, execution, and invoicing.
• Implement digital or AI-enabled improvements to reduce rework and shorten cycle time.
• Ensure preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, and capital replacement plans; coordinate vendors and resources.
• Match staffing to demand and build scalable capacity while preserving safety and quality.
