Job summary

ATI Specialty Materials in Monroe, NC invites rising sophomores, juniors and seniors pursuing Materials Science and Engineering to apply for a 10-week Process Metallurgist Internship in Summer 2027. You will work alongside experienced metallurgists and operations teams to analyze process data and support targeted process improvements across Monroe’s presses, forges, and billet conditioning.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Materials Science & Engineering.
• Sophomore year completed; rising juniors and seniors preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze titanium hot working processes and relate changes to microstructure and testing.
• Perform process audits of Monroe operations to evaluate execution and compliance.
• Analyze Radial Forge output to identify forging-force reductions.
• Support process optimization across nickel, titanium, and specialty steel alloys.
• Prepare and present findings to peers and leadership.
