Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Process Engineer to design and deliver complex semiconductor facilities, focusing on cleanroom environments, process chemical systems, and fab infrastructure in Austin, TX.

You will perform engineering calculations, develop PFDs/P&IDs, size equipment, analyze flow and pressure drops, and coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and project teams to meet code and client requirements while supporting startup and turnover.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 3–6 years of process engineering experience, preferably in design-build or EPC.
• Experience in semiconductor, cleanroom, or mission-critical facilities.
• Foundational knowledge of ultrapure water, specialty gas/chemical distribution, wastewater, and fluid systems.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and develop technical narratives.
• Understanding of piping systems, pressure drop, and material selection.
• Familiarity with PFDs and P&IDs.
• Experience coordinating with multiple disciplines and clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop process chemical and specialty gas concepts for semiconductor facilities, including cleanroom support and utility interfaces.
• Perform calculations, equipment sizing, pressure drop analyses, and flow evaluations.
• Prepare and review PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, and line sizing studies.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, structural, controls, and fire protection teams.
• Ensure designs meet codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Support client meetings, design reviews, and turnover planning.
• Review datasheets and submittals for tool integration and utilities.
• Apply QA/QC to engineering deliverables and ensure consistency across drawings.
• Conduct site walks and field verifications as needed.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and correspondence for coordination.
• Identify constructability and safety concerns and propose practical solutions.
• Mentor junior staff and reinforce disciplined engineering practices.
