Job summary

Hargrove is seeking a Process Engineer in Bessemer City, NC to design and optimize chemical/process systems. You will conduct root cause analyses, lead corrective actions, develop P&ID, and perform mass and energy balances to support unit operations.

The role requires 5+ years in chemical/petroleum/biochemical process design, with PE license preferred. Proficiency in DCS/PLC controls and familiarity with PHA/LOPA, safety audits, and capital project support will be essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering.
• Professional Engineering registration or CPIP certification preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in chemical/process design.
• Exposure to PSM-covered processes; knowledge of safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
• Develop P&ID and perform mass and energy balances for units.
• Provide data to size pumps, exchangers, valves and meters.
• Participate in safety initiatives, audits and PHA/LOPA activities.
• Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Analyze asset utilization for reliability and capacity improvements.
• Assist in capital projects, plant start-ups and MOC activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate findings clearly.
