Cleveland-Cliffs invites enrolled students to join our East Chicago, IN site as a Process Control Engineering Intern. You will work on software development, hardware and system maintenance, and automation improvements across multiple platforms.

The role involves collaborating with production and R&D teams to deliver practical solutions. The internship targets sophomores entering 2027 and requires a technical BS program enrollment.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in Bachelor of Science program in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical degree.
• Completion of sophomore year by summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Software development across multiple languages and hardware platforms.
• Maintenance of hardware and software.
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of the automation system.
• Modifications to adapt to new products and processes.
• Address issues impacting production or system reliability.
• Process modeling for mill processes (chemical/metallurgical/mechanical).
• Administration of various OS and relational databases on workstations/servers.
• Work with complex measurement systems (vision, thermal imaging, RFID/barcode, X-ray, gauges).
• Work with networking tech and high-speed data transmission.
