Job summary

San Bernardino County Probation Department seeks Probation Assistants who support Probation sworn staff while performing routine non-sworn functions, including interviewing adult and juvenile clients referred for pretrial services, orientation or probation supervision; obtaining information from clients to complete family/personal history statements, face sheets or other documents, and assisting with forms.

Night and weekend availability may be required.

Qualifications

• Education requirement: high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of clerical/data-entry experience or one year in a Probation Department.
• 30 semester/45 quarter units in behavioral science plus one year experience.
• Volunteer work in Probation environment accepted with required experience.

Responsibilities

• Interview adult and juvenile clients referred for pretrial services or probation supervision.
• Obtain information from clients to complete family/personal history statements.
• Assist with completing forms; take photographs; collect urinalysis and DNA specimens.
• Coordinate, track, and research departmental programs and services.
• Support Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in program delivery.
