Qualifications

• Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three (3) years of full-time work experience equivalent to San Bernardino County Probation Corrections Officer (PCO).
• 30 semester units with 15 in psychology, sociology, criminology, or criminal justice; four (4) years of full-time work experience equivalent to PCO.
• Associates degree or 60 semester units with 15 in related fields; five (5) years of experience equivalent to PCO.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; seven (7) years of experience as PCO.
• Courses outside the U.S. require evaluation of equivalency.

Responsibilities

• Supervise correctional staff in daily juvenile detention operations.
• Assign, review, and evaluate Probation Corrections Officers in a unit.
• Direct and supervise counseling and activity programs.
• Conduct regular rounds to ensure safety and security of the facility and wards.

Education

Bachelors degree

30 semester units incl 15 in psychology/sociology/criminal justice

Associates degree or 60 semester units incl 15 in related fields

High school diploma or GED
