Job summary

State of Iowa - Executive Branch is seeking a Probation/Parole Officer 2 to split time between Cedar and Muscatine counties. Initial assignment includes 3 days in Cedar County, with a Monday-Friday schedule and varied hours.

The role involves supervising probation, parole, and pretrial release, including interstate compact cases and sex offender caseloads. Comprehensive case management and risk/needs assessments are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in any field.
• Four years of education and/or full-time experience in human services or criminal justice.
• Current, continuous state executive branch experience with 18 months as Probation/Parole Officer 1.

Responsibilities

• Supervise probation, parole, and pretrial release with supervision.
• Oversee interstate compact cases and sex offender caseloads.
• Develop risk/need-based case plans and update per policy.
• Conduct home checks and maintain detailed case files.
• Maintain structured contacts using core correctional practices.
