State of Iowa is seeking a Probation/Parole Officer 2 to split time between Cedar and Muscatine counties, starting with three days in Cedar County. The role supports probation, parole, and pretrial release supervision with a diverse, low-to-medium risk caseload.

The position emphasizes risk assessment, case planning, home checks, and maintaining thorough records in line with policy. Opportunities exist for training and potential group facilitation.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree.
  • Four years of education and/or full-time experience in a human services or criminal justice field, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes 18 months of full-time work as a Probation/Parole Officer 1.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise probation, parole, and pretrial release caseloads.
  • Supervise interstate compact cases with diverse risk levels.
  • Administer risk assessments (IVVI, DRAOR, SOTIPS) to guide interventions.
  • Develop case plans with goals and updates per policy.
  • Conduct home checks and maintain detailed case files.
  • Foster and maintain quality working relationships with stakeholders.
  • May facilitate group sessions as needed.
  • Complete training on New Employee Training (NET) and other assigned trainings.
