Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a PRN Surgical Tech to assist the operating room team with sterile field setup, instrument handling, and patient positioning.

The role emphasizes infection prevention, aseptic technique, and adherence to facility policies to support safe surgical outcomes. The technician prepares rooms, passes instruments, and ensures supplies and instruments are properly sterilized and counted.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing is required.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences is required.
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operating room for surgical cases.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies accurately.
• Handle surgical instruments with proper sterilization, inspection, and assembly.
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Assist in patient positioning, draping, and transfers.
• Maintain physician preference cards and ensure supplies are available.
• Clean, reprocess, and sterilize instruments per protocol.
• Restock supplies and ensure ORs are ready for subsequent cases.
