University Hospitals Pain Management is seeking a PRN Speech-Language Pathologist in the inpatient acute care setting to support the adult care service line and FT staff PTO, call-offs, and census needs. Modified Barium Swallow experience is a plus and may enhance clinical contributions.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of practice.
  • Acute care clinical experience preferred.
  • Modified Barium Swallow experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and conducts the Speech-Language Pathology plan of care for adults in acute care.
  • Directs patient participation to improve speech, language, cognition, and swallowing.
  • Performs evaluations and develops treatment plans within the care continuum; participates in discharge planning.
  • Educates patient and family on treatment and health information.
  • Performs documentation, billing support, and department-related tasks.

Job description

PRN Speech Language Pathologist IP Acute Care position to cover Adult Acute care SLP service line at SMC to support FT staff PTO, Call offs and census needs. Modified Barium Swallow experience a plus.

A Brief Overview

Organizes and conducts Speech-Language Pathology services to facilitate the (re)habilitation of people with physical and/or psychosocial disabilities. The Speech-Language Pathologist directs the patient's participation in selected activities/treatments to promote and/or maintain good health and communication.

What You Will Do
  • Organizes and conducts the Speech-Language Pathology plan of care to facilitate the habilitation or rehabilitation of people with speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing disabilities.
  • Directs patient participation in selected activities to establish, enhance, and restore speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing abilities.
  • Performs evaluation(s), develops an effective treatment plan appropriate to a patient’s rehabilitation needs within the care continuum, initiates and participates in the discharge planning process.
  • Educates patient/family/caregiver in applicable health information, treatment and prevention.
  • Performs other department activities such as, but not limited to, documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc.
