Job summary

University Hospitals Pain Management seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to lead evaluation and treatment planning for patients with speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing disorders. This role focuses on habilitation/rehabilitation within a comprehensive care team.

You will educate patients and families, contribute to discharge planning, documentation, and department operations, while upholding PHI safeguards and UH policies.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and conducts Speech-Language Pathology plan of care for speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing rehabilitation.
• Directs patient participation to establish and restore speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing abilities.
• Performs evaluations and develops treatment plans; initiates discharge planning.
• Educates patients, families, and caregivers on health information, treatment and prevention.
• Performs department duties including documentation, billing, and operational support.
• Performs other duties as assigned; adheres to policies; complies with PHI training and UH policies.

A Brief Overview

Organizes and conducts Speech-Language Pathology services to facilitate the (re)habilitation of people with physical and/or psychosocial disabilities. The Speech-Language Pathologist directs the patient's participation in selected activities/treatments to promote and/or maintain good health and communication.

What You Will Do

• Organizes and conducts the Speech-Language Pathology plan of care to facilitate the habilitation or rehabilitation of people with speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing disabilities.
• Directs patient participation in selected activities to establish, enhance, and restore speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing abilities.
• Performs evaluation(s), develops an effective treatment plan appropriate to a patient’s rehabilitation needs within the care continuum, initiates and participates in the discharge planning process.
• Educates patient/family/caregiver in applicable health information, treatment and prevention.
• Performs other department activities such as, but not limited to, documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc.
