Job summary

University Hospitals Pain Management is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to organize and conduct pathology services for patients with speech, language, cognitive, psychosocial, and swallowing needs. You will direct patient participation to restore communication abilities and perform evaluations to shape individualized treatment plans within the care continuum.

• Directs patient participation in activities to establish, enhance, and restore speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing abilities.
• Performs evaluations and develops an effective treatment plan; initiates and participates in discharge planning.
• Educates patient, family, and caregiver on health information, treatment and prevention.
• Performs other department activities such as documentation, billing, and support of department operations.
• Complies with all policies and standards and safely maintains PHI with annual training.

A Brief Overview

Organizes and conducts Speech-Language Pathology services to facilitate the (re)habilitation of people with physical and/or psychosocial disabilities. The Speech-Language Pathologist directs the patient's participation in selected activities/treatments to promote and/or maintain good health and communication.

• Organizes and conducts the Speech-Language Pathology plan of care to facilitate the habilitation or rehabilitation of people with speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing disabilities.
• Directs patient participation in selected activities to establish, enhance, and restore speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing abilities.
• Performs evaluation(s), develops an effective treatment plan appropriate to a patient’s rehabilitation needs within the care continuum, initiates and participates in the discharge planning process.
• Educates patient/family/caregiver in applicable health information, treatment and prevention.
• Performs other department activities such as, but not limited to, documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc.
