University Hospitals in Ashland, OH is seeking a PRN Speech Language Pathologist to support Adult Acute Care services. This role covers PTO, call-offs, and census needs, with experience in Modified Barium Swallow a plus.

The SLP will evaluate, treat, and discharge plans, collaborating with care teams to promote communication and swallowing rehabilitation across all ages served. BLS and state licensure required upon hire.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree MA/MS in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Graduate Program Clinical Experience is required.
  • Must have professional initiative, objectivity, good time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be physically and cognitively able to provide patient assessment and treatment.
  • Ohio SLP license (or conditional license) required upon hire.
  • ASHA CCC or Clinical Fellow required upon hire.
  • BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and conducts the Speech-Language Pathology plan of care for rehabilitation needs.
  • Directs patient participation to establish and restore speech, language, cognitive, psychosocial, and swallowing abilities.
  • Performs evaluations and develops treatment plans; participates in discharge planning.
  • Educates patient, family, and caregiver on health information and treatment.
  • Performs other department duties including documentation and billing.

Job Description - PRN Speech Language Pathologist Ashland (260007OB)

PRN Speech Language Pathologist IP Acute Care position to cover Adult Acute care SLP service line at SMC to support FT staff PTO, Call offs and census needs. Modified Barium Swallow experience a plus.
A Brief Overview

Organizes and conducts Speech-Language Pathology services to facilitate the (re)habilitation of people with physical and/or psychosocial disabilities. The Speech-Language Pathologist directs the patient’s participation in selected activities/treatments to promote and/or maintain good health and communication.

What You Will Do
  • Organizes and conducts the Speech-Language Pathology plan of care to facilitate the habilitation or rehabilitation of people with speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing disabilities.
  • Directs patient participation in selected activities to establish, enhance, and restore speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing abilities.
  • Performs evaluation(s), develops an effective treatment plan appropriate to a patient’s rehabilitation needs within the care continuum, initiates and participates in the discharge planning process.
  • Educates patient/family/caregiver in applicable health information, treatment and prevention.
  • Performs other department activities such as, but not limited to, documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Education Qualifications
  • Master's Degree MA or MS Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited graduate program. (Required)

  • Requires the evaluation and treatment skills necessary to provide Speech-Language Pathology services appropriate to the developmental/chronological age of patients on their caseload. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensed by the State of Ohio, Board of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology or Conditional license by the State of Ohio. (Required Upon Hire)
  • Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) American Speech Language Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence or Clinical Fellow (Required Upon Hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Basic Life Support Certification (Required Upon Hire)
