Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide advanced respiratory care across Heber Valley and Park City Hospitals. You will diagnose, evaluate, treat, and manage cardiopulmonary deficiencies per physician orders and act as a resource to CRT staff.

You will perform diagnostic testing, administer medications, document thoroughly, and participate in quality and safety initiatives. This role may require floating to other departments and on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of NBRC approved Respiratory Therapist program from an accredited institution.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT).
• Current license as Registered Respiratory Therapy in the state of practice is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers is required.
• Specific certifications as required (i.e. PALS, ACLS, NRP) is required.
• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Performs, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol. Obtains arterial gases. Oversees and troubleshoots the operation of equipment for optimal patient care.
• Administers medications in a timely and safe manner. Evaluates effect and re-evaluates appropriately and according to protocol.
• Maintains awareness of assigned patient’s overall condition. Communicates and shares patient information with physicians and nurses.
• Completes documentation according to departmental standards. Monitors supplies and equipment and notifies when low or broken.
• Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives and departmental meetings.
• Promotes the profession of Respiratory Care and mentors staff.
• May float to other departments and may be on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
