Job summary

Methodist Hospital Northeast is seeking a PRN Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/CRT) to assess, treat and care for patients with pulmonary disorders. You will administer respiratory care modalities and collaborate with the care team to manage each patient’s plan of care.

The role requires a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Texas, NBRC credentials, BLS upon hire, ACLS within 90 days, and possibly PALS/NRP within 90 days if required by the department.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
• 1 year of Respiratory Therapy experience preferred.
• Current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the Texas Medical Board.
• NBRC credential as RRT OR CRT grandfathered before 2002.
• BLS at hire; ACLS within 90 days.
• PALS or NRP within 90 days if department requires.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up devices like mechanical ventilators and aerosol generators per treatment parameters.
• Provide emergency care including artificial ventilation and CPR support.
• Collect and analyze arterial blood gases; interpret normal, abnormal and critical values.
• Follow physician orders for treatment duration and mode; ensure universal precautions and medication dosing.
• Monitor patient responses via vital signs, ABGs, breath sounds, SpO2 and ETCO2.
• Consult with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals to adjust the care plan as a team.
