Job summary

Methodist Hospital Hill Country seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT PRN) to join the team in Fredericksburg, TX. You will assess and treat patients with pulmonary disorders and administer respiratory therapies in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols.

You will operate ventilators, monitor ABGs, respond to emergencies, and collaborate with physicians and staff to adjust care as needed, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
• 1 year of Respiratory Therapy experience preferred.
• Current Texas license to practice Respiratory Care.
• NBRC credential as RRT or grandfathered CRT before 2002.
• BLS required at hire; ACLS within 90 days; PALS/NRP within 90 days if required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, treat and care for patients with pulmonary disorders.
• Operate and set up devices like ventilators and aerosol generators per treatment plan.
• Provide emergency care including ventilation and CPR support.
• Collect and analyze arterial blood gases and adjust therapy as needed.
• Follow physician orders and evaluate therapy requirements (type, mode, duration).
• Monitor patient response via vitals, ABG, breath sounds, pulse oximetry, and ETCO2.
• Consult with physicians and nurses to manage the plan of care.
