Job summary

Boulder Centre for Orthopedics and Spine is hiring a PACU & Pre-Operative RN on a PRN basis in Broomfield, CO. The role focuses on providing exceptional perioperative care for orthopedic patients, from pre-op assessment through immediate post-op recovery.

You will assess patients, manage IV access, document findings, monitor vital signs, and respond to emergencies under the supervision of the Pre-Op/PACU Manager. Colorado RN license and relevant certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred; Colorado RN license required.
• Current BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years Pre-Op/PACU RN experience; orthopedic setting preferred.
• Acute care experience: 1 year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery.
• Ensure operative and informed consents are signed and correct.
• Record vital statistics to ensure readiness for procedure.
• Initiate IVs and inform patients about the procedure.
• Assess post-operative condition.
• Monitor vital signs and discharge criteria progress.

Requirements

Essential Duties

• Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery
• Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
• Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
• Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure
• Assess patients’ post-operative condition
• Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria
• Log all findings in patient files
• Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort
• Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician
• Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies

Experience Required

• 2 year of Pre-Op/PACU (RN) experience in an Orthopedic setting preferred.
• Acute Care: 1 year (Preferred)

Education/Certification requirements

• Degree in Nursing: Bachelors Preferred
• Current Colorado Registered Nurse license
• BCLS & ACLS certification required.
• PALS certification
