Job summary

Boulder Centre for Orthopedics in Boulder, CO seeks an Operating Room RN to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced orthopedic setting. This PRN, onsite role supports general orthopedics, sports medicine and pain management with collaboration and learning opportunities.

You will perform circulating and scrub functions, ensure safety checklists, monitor patient status, and deliver nursing care to high-acuity surgical patients.

Qualifications

• Must have active nursing license in Colorado.
• 2 years OR nursing experience required; ASC orthopedic experience preferred.
• BCLS & ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs circulating functions before surgery, including preparing the environment and reviewing records.
• Monitors patient condition and ensures safety checklists are completed.
• Assists with scrub functions and instrument handling; performs surgical counts.
• Provides nursing care to high-acuity surgical patients in a fast-paced setting.

Reports to: OR Nurse Manager

Schedule/Type: PRN- onsite/hourly, M-T 10-hour shifts, with 2 shifts per month, minimum requirement

Wage: $51 per hour

Requirements

Essential Duties

• Performs circulating functions before surgery, including preparing the operating environment, orienting and assessing the patient, and reviewing the patient’s medical record and surgeon’s notes to ensure all prerequisites and preferences are met.
• Ensures safety checklists and procedures are implemented and documented at all times.
• Performs circulating functions during surgery, including monitoring and communicating patient condition, documenting interventions and activities, monitoring the sterile field, and controlling traffic into, out of, and around the operating room suite.
• Assists with scrub functions, including the preparation, selection, and handling of instruments and supplies used during the surgical procedure. Performs surgical counts with the surgical tech/scrub nurse.
• Provides nursing care to a high-acuity surgical patient population in a technically demanding environment.
• Within the scope of the job, it requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Experience Required: 2 years of OR nursing (RN) experience. Previous ASC experience in an Orthopedic setting preferred.

Education/Certification requirements

• Degree in Nursing: Bachelor's Preferred
• Current Colorado Registered Nurse license
• BCLS & ACLS certification required.
