Job summary

Boulder Centre for Orthopedics is seeking an Operating Room RN for a part-time, on-site role in Boulder, CO. The Nurse will perform circulating duties before and during orthopedic surgeries, assist with scrubs, and provide high-acuity patient care under the OR Nurse Manager. Colorado RN license with BCLS & ACLS is required.

Two years of OR nursing experience preferred, with availability for PRN 10-hour shifts Mon–Tue, two shifts per month. EAP benefits included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Current Colorado RN license.
• BCLS & ACLS certification required.

• Performs circulating functions before surgery, including preparing the operating environment and reviewing the patient’s records.
• Performs circulating functions during surgery, monitors patient condition and maintains sterile field.
• Assists with scrub functions, handling instruments and supplies; performs surgical counts.
• Delivers nursing care to high-acuity surgical patients in a technically demanding environment.

Requirements

Essential Duties

• Performs circulating functions before surgery, including preparing the operating environment, orienting and assessing the patient, and reviewing the patient’s medical record and surgeon’s notes to ensure all prerequisites and preferences are met.
• Ensures safety checklists and procedures are implemented and documented at all times.
• Performs circulating functions during surgery, including monitoring and communicating patient condition, documenting interventions and activities, monitoring the sterile field, and controlling traffic into, out of, and around the operating room suite.
• Assists with scrub functions, including the preparation, selection, and handling of instruments and supplies used during the surgical procedure. Performs surgical counts with the surgical tech/scrub nurse.
• Provides nursing care to a high-acuity surgical patient population in a technically demanding environment.
• Within the scope of the job, it requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Experience Required

2 years of OR nursing (RN) experience. Previous ASC experience in an Orthopedic setting preferred.

Education / Certification Requirements

• Degree in Nursing: Bachelor's Preferred
• Current Colorado Registered Nurse license
• BCLS & ACLS certification required.

Salary Description

$51 per hour
