Job summary

HCA Florida Mercy Hospital in Miami, FL is seeking PRN Registered Nurses to join our surgical services. The role emphasizes preoperative assessment, patient education, IV therapy, and strict adherence to universal protocols in a fast-paced OR setting.

You will work within an interdisciplinary team to provide safe, high-quality nursing care and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, with on-call requirements during select non-business hours.

Qualifications

• ACLS and BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN/Registered Nurse licensure and practice.
• Associate Degree required.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patient, IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Be part of an interdisciplinary team including providers and nurses.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor, and document changes.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up.
