Job summary

HCA Florida University Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical services team in a dynamic, collaborative environment. You will evaluate patients pre‑op, educate families, manage IV therapy and preoperative medications, and participate in universal protocols and time‑out procedures to ensure safety and quality of care.

Qualifications

• Current RN license to practice in Florida
• ACLS, BLS and PALS certifications must be obtained within 30 days of start date
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience
• OR RN experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership to deliver safe care
• Assess patient condition, monitor during shift, and document changes
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up
