Job summary

We are seeking a PRN Registered Dietitian for our healthcare & food service team at Pittsburgh, PA. The RD will assess nutritional needs of patients/residents, initiate interventions to maintain status, and enhance quality of life aligned with goals.

Position typically schedules 8–16 hours per week, onsite at Allegheny General Hospital. PRN flexibility and collaboration with interdepartmental teams are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition (Prior to 2024) or related field.
• Master’s degree in Nutrition or related field.
• Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or meets Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics eligibility requirements.
• Completes 75 hours of continuing education every five years via professional portfolio development.
• Licensed or certified per state requirements.
• Knowledge of regulation standards for comprehensive assessments, care planning, and residents’ rights.
• Ability to teach others pertaining to nutrition and dietetics.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutritional expertise to the health care team and educate patients/residents, staff, or consultants.
• Follow the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ standards of practice and facility regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with other departments to set up procedures/policies related to dining service and nutrition.
• Actively participate in development, review, and revision of continuous quality improvement programs.
