Job summary

PRN Registered Dietitian is sought for our healthcare food service team at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. This onsite, part-time role offers flexible hours (8-16 per week) and the chance to assess nutritional needs and plan interventions to improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include educating patients and staff, adhering to academy standards, collaborating with departments, and supporting quality improvement initiatives in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition (Prior to 2024) or related field.
• Master’s degree in Nutrition or related field.
• Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or meets the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics requirements for eligibility.
• Completes 75 hours of continuing education hours every five years, in accordance with the CDR, utilizing the professional portfolio development process.
• Licensed or certified, per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutritional expertise to the health care team and educate patients/residents, staff, or consultants.
• Follow the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ standards of practice and facility regulatory requirements.
• Interact with other departments in setting up procedures and policies, and in problem solving as it relates to dining service and nutrition.
• Actively participating in the development, review, and revision of continuous quality improvement programs.
