Mercyhealth in Freeport, IL is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to collect, label, and process blood specimens, register patients, and ensure specimen integrity while following safety protocols. You will work with HIS and LIS systems, release orders, and support daily laboratory operations.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a phlebotomy course, and preferred phlebotomy certification.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of a phlebotomy course preferred.
• Experience as a Paramedic, EMT, CNA or MA helpful.

Responsabilidades

• Proficient with Hospital Information System (HIS) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) to release orders or register patients.
• Performs patient registration, data entry of demographics and insurance information, and supports sample processing.
• Identifies patients using two identifiers and performs phlebotomy to obtain blood specimens.
• Adheres to safety protocols and infection control practices at all times.
• Accepts specimens from internal/external customers, packages and tracks for transport, and supports supply acquisition.
