Job summary

Mercyhealth Wisconsin and Illinois is seeking a PRN phlebotomy technician to collect and process specimens, register patients, and handle related data entry tasks across multiple sites. You will ensure patient identification, specimen integrity, and adherence to safety protocols while supporting routine lab operations.

The role involves flexible shifts, travel to client sites or patient homes as needed, and collaboration with lab personnel to deliver timely results.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of a phlebotomy course or phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Experience with patient registration and data entry helpful.

Responsibilities

• Release orders or register patients using HIS and LIS.
• Register patients, collect payments, and enter demographic and insurance information.
• Identify patients with two identifiers and perform phlebotomy as needed.
• Handle calls professionally and resolve unusual orders with supervision as needed.
• Prepare and label specimens; ensure specimen integrity and safe transport.
