Job summary

Mercyhealth seeks a Phlebotomy Partner to support laboratory operations in northern Illinois. The role involves collecting blood specimens, registering patients, and entering demographics and insurance data in HIS and LIS. Excellent patient communication and strict safety practices are essential.

As a PRN, variable shift position, you will ensure specimen integrity, accurate labeling, and timely delivery to the lab while maintaining high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of a phlebotomy course or previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Experience as Paramedic, EMT, CNA or MA helpful.

Responsibilities

• Proficient with Hospital Information System (HIS) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) to release orders or register patients.
• Performs patient registration and data entry of demographic and insurance information.
• Transfers patient test requests from scripts, requisitions, and verbal orders into HIS and LIS.
• Collects blood specimens via phlebotomy while ensuring patient identification.
• Adheres to safety protocols and infection control practices.
