Job summary

Mercy Health's Springfield Regional Medical Center is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory team. The phlebotomist draws blood, prepares specimens for lab testing, and handles related clerical duties to keep the department running smoothly.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, and one year of phlebotomy and customer service experience is preferred. Certification is preferred but not required; travel to off-site locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomist certification preferred but not required.
• One year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
• Customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner.
• Collects specimens according to procedures and ensures proper processing.
• Identifies patients accurately and matches identity with service for patient safety.
• Performs data entry and processing of specimens by labeling, centrifuging, and splitting as ordered.
• Performs clerical duties such as inventory checks, stock supplies, and answering phones as needed.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems promptly; other duties as assigned.
