Job summary

Cone Health Medical Group is seeking a Nursing Technician to support the Registered Nurse by observing and documenting patient conditions and assisting with daily tasks under close supervision. This role emphasizes progressive mobility, safe patient handling, and prompt communication with the care team to align with the plan of care.

Requires North Carolina Nurse Aide Certification, BLS, and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living tasks to support recovery and plan of care.
• Assess nutrition, hydration, and elimination to allocate resources.
• Admit, transfer, and discharge patients per plan of care.
• Assist with clinical procedures: monitor blood glucose, vitals, EKGs, apply restraints, and address elimination needs.
• Maintain unit inventories to ensure a clean and safe environment and adherence to safety goals.
• Check fall-risk patients have appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage.
• Document all procedures, patient interactions, and medication use.
• Respond to delegation from RN staff and share patient observations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.

Essential Job Function:

• Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
• Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
• Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
• Helps document all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to maintain a detailed patient history.
• Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
