Job summary

Cone Health is seeking a Nursing Technician to support Registered Nurses by observing and documenting patient conditions, and assisting with daily tasks under close supervision. This role contributes to safe, compassionate patient care and progressive mobility.

Key responsibilities include documenting procedures, monitoring vital signs, and collaborating with the nursing team to ensure timely, high-quality care. Requires high school diploma and Nurse Aide certification with BLS CPR.

Qualifications

• Nurse Aide Certification and state DHHR certification required.
• BLS CPR certification required (ARC or AHA Healthcare Provider).

Responsibilities

• Observes and documents patient conditions to support care.
• Assists with daily living activities and progressive mobility.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients as needed in line with plan of care.
• Assists with clinical tasks including monitoring vital signs and recording data.
• Maintains unit inventories to ensure a clean, safe environment.
• Ensures fall-risk patients have appropriate safety measures.
• Documents procedures, patient interactions, and medication use.
• Responds to delegation from RNs and supports team communication.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.

Essential Job Function:

• Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
• Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
• Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
• Helps document all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to maintain a detailed patient history.
• Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
