Job summary

Cone Health is seeking a Nursing Technician to support Registered Nurses by observing and documenting patient conditions and assisting with daily living activities. This role involves progressive mobility support, basic clinical tasks, and collaboration with the care team to ensure quality patient care.

Under close supervision, the technician helps with clinical procedures, monitors vitals, and maintains safety standards within the unit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Nurse Aide Certification required by NC DHHR.
• BLS CPR certification required (American Red Cross or AHA).

Responsibilities

• Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals and personal care, to aid recovery.
• Assesses nutrition, hydration and elimination to anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers and discharges patients to align with the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures, monitors blood glucose, records vital signs and supports safe care.
• Maintains unit inventories and ensures a clean, safe environment in line with safety goals.
• Verifies fall-risk patients have appropriate arm bands, socks and signage for safety.
• Documents all clinical procedures and patient interactions to maintain a detailed history.
• Responds to RN delegation and communicates observations to support efficient teamwork.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.

Essential Job Function

• Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
• Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
• Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
• Helps document all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to maintain a detailed patient history.
• Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
