Job summary

Cone Health is seeking a Nursing Technician to support the Registered Nurse by observing and documenting patient conditions and assisting with mobility and daily tasks under close supervision. This role focuses on safe, compassionate care aligned with the plan of care.

Responsibilities include assisting with meals and personal care, monitoring vitals, recording observations, admitting/discharging patients, and maintaining a clean, safe unit with proper safety measures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• North Carolina Nurse Aide Certification (DHHR) and CPR/BLS required.
• Ability to assist with daily living tasks and mobility.
• Ability to monitor vitals and document patient data.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living tasks and progressive mobility to support recovery.
• Assess nutrition, hydration, and elimination to plan care and resources.
• Admit, transfer, and discharge patients per the care plan.
• Assist with clinical procedures: monitor blood glucose, vitals, EKGs, and restraint use.
• Maintain unit inventories and ensure a clean, safe environment.
• Verify fall-risk safety measures (arm bands, signage).
• Document procedures, patient interactions, and medication use.
• Respond to nurse delegation and communicate observations for efficient care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.

Essential Job Function

• Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
• Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
• Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
• Helps document all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to maintain a detailed patient history.
• Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Licensure/Certification/Listing

• Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
