Job summary

Cone Health is seeking a Nursing Technician to support the Registered Nurse by observing and documenting patient conditions under close supervision. You will assist with daily tasks and progressive mobility to support recovery and the plan of care.

Responsibilities include assisting with meals, personal care, monitoring vitals, and maintaining a safe, well-stocked unit while documenting care and communicating observations to the nursing team for coordinated patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Nurse Aide Certification is required.
• BLS (CPR) certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider is required.

Responsibilities

• Supports patients with daily living tasks and mobility to aid recovery.
• Assists with clinical procedures including monitoring vital signs and recording observations.
• Maintains unit inventory and ensures a clean, safe environment in line with safety goals.
• Documents patient interactions and medications to keep an accurate chart.
• Responds to nurse delegation and collaborates to ensure efficient care.

Job description

The Nursing Technician supports the Registered Nurse through observing and documenting patient conditions. Working under close supervision, this role assists with patient support through progressive mobility and assistance with daily tasks as needed.

Essential Job Function

• Supports patients with daily living tasks, including meals, personal care, and progressive mobility in order to support the recovery and plan of care.
• Assesses patients' quality of life related to nutrition, hydration, and elimination in order to distribute resources and anticipate patient needs.
• Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in order to move them to the appropriate locations in line with the plan of care.
• Assists with clinical procedures, including monitoring blood glucose, recording vital signs, obtaining EKG's, applying restraints, and attending to elimination needs to provide comfortable care for patients.
• Helps to maintain unit inventories of supplies and medical equipment in order to ensure a clean and safe environment in adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Checks that fall-risk patients have the appropriate arm bands, socks, and signage to ensure physical safety.
• Helps document all clinical procedures, patient interactions, and medication use to maintain a detailed patient history.
• Responds promptly to delegation from registered nurse staff and shares patient observations to ensure efficient collaboration.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
