Three Trails Behavioral Hospital is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Technician (MHT) PRN in the Independence, MO area. You will provide direct patient care in a behavioral health setting, maintain safety, and support treatment plans while promoting a therapeutic environment.

The role emphasizes collaboration with nursing and clinical staff, handling escalations, and assisting patients with daily living activities. A 12-hour shift pattern and orientation are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate/bachelor’s preferred.
• Experience in behavioral health or healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and observational skills.
• Must manage challenging behaviors with professionalism and empathy.
• Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, with two shifts per month plus weekends.
• Complete two-week Monday-Friday orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and supervision in a behavioral health setting.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment at all times.
• Conduct routine patient safety checks and observations.
• Support patients with daily living activities as appropriate.
• Respond appropriately to situations and behavioral escalations.
