Job summary

Truman Medical Center is seeking a Mental Health Technician for the Center for Behavioral Medicine in Kansas City, MO. This part-time, inpatient role supports licensed nursing staff and helps create a therapeutic environment for patients on the Behavioral Health IP unit.

You will assist with activities of daily living, provide direct patient care, and contribute to a safe, compassionate setting. Prioritizing safety and teamwork, you’ll participate in orientation and ongoing training as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Preferred: proven experience in patient care or mental health.
• Must obtain BCLS certification within 120 days of hire and maintain it for employment.
• Clearance through the Family Care Registry.
• Orientation/training to meet UAP-like standards or equivalent background.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily activities and provide direct care under RN supervision.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment on the unit.
• Perform clerical and routine clinical tasks as assigned.
• Use compassionate listening and observation to support patients.
