Job summary

Three Trails Behavioral Hospital in Independence, MO seeks a dedicated Mental Health Technician (MHT) PRN to support patients with behavioral health needs and promote a safe therapeutic environment. You will work closely with nursing and clinical teams to implement treatment plans and ensure patient safety.

The role emphasizes direct patient care, observation, and collaboration, with a focus on compassionate, professional care in a fast-paced inpatient setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field (preferred).
• Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatric care, or healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and observational skills.
• Must be able to manage challenging behaviors with professionalism and empathy.
• Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Ability to work 12 hour shifts, and pick up at least two shifts per month, with one being a weekend.
• Be able to complete a two week Monday-Friday orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and supervision in a behavioral health setting
• Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment at all times
• Conduct routine patient safety checks and observations
• Support patients with daily living activities as appropriate
• Respond appropriately to situations and behavioral escalations
• Collaborate with nursing and clinical staff to support patient care plans.
