Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care in an outpatient clinic setting under a licensed provider's direction. The role involves working at a franchised location with varying duties and benefits by franchise.

Responsibilities include taking vitals, assisting with exams, performing lab tests, administering medications, documenting thoroughly, and supporting referrals and pre-certifications as needed.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Six months to one year related experience and/or training.
• AMT registered and AAMA Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam.
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per approved procedure.
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing or in-house processing.
• Perform laboratory tests, quality controls, and equipment maintenance.
• Respond to lab messages and call back requests.
• Conduct drug screening procedures per established rules and regulations.
• Ensure immunizations are well documented and administered as approved.
• Coordinate physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
