Job summary

American Family Care is hiring a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care in an outpatient clinic setting under the direction of a licensed provider. The role involves cross-training for Front Office duties and working with franchised locations, with varied duties across franchises.

Applicants should have a two-year Medical Assistant education or equivalent, with willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Two-year college or technical school for Medical Assistant.
• Six months to one year related experience or training.
• Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
• Willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Check patients in for their visits, running insurance, and collecting copays
• Schedule appointments or answer necessary questions during phone calls
• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
• Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
• Administer medications and vaccines via inter-muscular injections
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
