Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide general medical care under supervision in an outpatient clinic setting. The role works directly with a franchised location; specific duties and benefits may vary by franchise.

Responsibilities include obtaining vitals, preparing patients for exams, administering medications, drawing blood, performing labs, and maintaining documentation. Qualified candidates typically have an associate degree, AMT/AAMA certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates degree (A.A.) or two-year college qualification or equivalent.
• Six months to one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• AMT registration and AAMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
• Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
• Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
• Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
• Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
• Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
• Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
• Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
• Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
• Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent

AMT registered

AAMA Certified Medical Assistants preferred
