Job summary

HCA Florida Ocala Hospital in Ocala, FL, is seeking a PRN Laboratory Assistant / Phlebotomist. The role involves specimen collection, processing, registration, and coordinating with referral laboratories under supervision.

You will help ensure service quality, regulatory compliance, and patient satisfaction while supporting departmental goals. Responsibilities include venipunctures, patient education on collection procedures, data entry, and maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience performing registration, clerical duties, and specimen processing.
• Follows safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to interact with co-workers in a team environment and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding of specimen collection and testing requirements.
• Proficient in venipunctures and/or finger sticks across age groups.
• Performs clerical duties (faxing, phones, pneumatic tube system, reports) and patient registration.
• Maintains accurate specimen collection documentation and chain-of-custody records.
• Coordinates with referral laboratories and ensures timely reporting of results.
