HCA Florida University Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Assistant PRN to join our devoted team. The role involves specimen collection, processing, registration and clerical duties under supervision, supporting quality and timely testing across the laboratory.

Qualifications

• Ability to interact in a team environment with co-workers.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service in all interactions.
• Communicates technical information clearly to staff.
• May assist in communication to customers and physicians.
• Requires 2+ years experience in registration, clerical duties and specimen processing.
• Protects confidential information and supports privacy/safety policies.
• Follows company security policies and completes annual training.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding of specimen collection and testing requirements.
• Proficient in venipunctures and finger sticks across patient populations.
• Performs registration and order entry with accuracy and timeliness.
• Labels and processes specimens according to testing orders.
• Maintains records and prepares specimens for courier pickup.
• Reviews OSR and pending referrals; communicates issues promptly.
• Ensures area cleanliness and safety following procedures.
• Supports clerical duties (faxing, phones, reports) as needed.
• Adheres to turnaround times and coordinates with laboratories for referrals.
