Job summary

HCA Florida Capital Hospital is seeking a PRN Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist to join the team in Tallahassee, FL. The role involves specimen collection, registration, and processing under supervision, with responsibilities across order entry, labeling, and compliance.

The position supports patient care through accurate specimen handling, phlebotomy proficiency, and effective communication with staff and patients.

Qualifications

• Vocational/technical degree preferred.
• 1–3 years in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
• Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant, Paramedic or EMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens and process them under supervision.
• Perform venipunctures and finger sticks as required.
• Label, register and document specimens accurately.
• Follow patient identification and specimen collection procedures.
• Use LIS to enter and track orders and results.
• Assist with clerical duties (faxing, phones, courier coordination).
• Maintain specimen integrity and turnaround times.
