Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center in the Dallas area is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support paraprofessional tasks that ensure a high quality of pharmacy service. The role is PRN with hours from 8 to 24 and 2–3 days per week in a United States setting.

The technician will assist in IV compounding, dispensing preparation, and basic duties under pharmacist supervision. Hospital pharmacy experience is preferred, and confidentiality and patient privacy are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Registered technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
• 1 year of Pharmacy experience required.
• Hospital Pharmacy experience preferred.
• Computer skills preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and patient privacy standards.

Responsibilities

• Answers the phone and front window.
• Compounds products in IV Lab using sterile, aseptic technique.
• Gathers items for requisitions, orders, crash carts to be checked by pharmacist.
• Maintains clean and orderly work area; restocks medications and area to proper levels.
• Assists in maintaining inventory by notifying purchasing when items are low or usage increases.
• Maintains drug storage systems through restock and troubleshooting.
• Maintains unit inspections outside the department.
• Makes rounds to nursing units for delivery and pick-up of medications.
• Performs charges and credits for floor stock sheets, narcotic sheets, etc., in the computer.
• Processes medications in assigned area (OR, IV lab, first fill).
• Trains new employees as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
