Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Histotechnician (PRN) for the hospital laboratory. The role prepares and processes tissue samples for histologic techniques, to be examined under a pathologist's microscope, including fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy and staining of human and animal tissue.

The HT ensures compliance with JCAHO, DHEC, CLIA and CAP standards and works under an hourly pay structure with a 12-hour scheduled weekly load.

Competenze

• Associates degree with 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry (credits in both)
• At least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience required
• HT(ASCP) certification by ASCP BOC or equivalent

Mansioni

• Prepare and process tissue samples for routine histologic techniques for microscopic examination by a pathologist
• Ensure laboratory compliance with JCAHO, DHEC, CLIA and CAP standards
• Perform duties in areas such as fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy and staining

Formazione

Associates degree from an accredited college/university with 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both)
