Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Histotechnician to prepare and process tissue samples for histology, including fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining for microscopic evaluation by a pathologist.

The role requires an associate degree with biology/chemistry, at least 1 year of clinical lab experience, and HT(ASCP) certification or equivalent. This is a PRN, hourly position within the Pathology department.

Qualifications

• Associates degree from an accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both).
• At least 1 year of clinical laboratory work experience required.
• HT(ASCP) certification by ASCP BOC or equivalent; Associates degree with biology/chemistry hours.

Responsabilités

• Prepares and processes tissue samples for routine histologic techniques to be examined under a microscope by a pathologist.
• The histotechnician may be asked to help with frozen sectioning.
• Assures laboratories compliance with standards set forth by JCAHO, DHEC, CLIA and CAP.
