Job summary

Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, TX seeks a PRN Sonographer II to operate ultrasound equipment and provide diagnostic imaging across cardiovascular, GI, GU, and GYN areas. The role requires ARDMS or ARRT(S) certification/licensing and recent graduate from an accredited Sonography program, with strong anatomy knowledge and infection-control practices.

PRN position with responsibilities from image acquisition to patient preparation and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• Graduate of an accredited Sonography program
• Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and positioning
• Knowledge of department, hospital and universal infection control policies
• Must have effective communication and listening skills

Responsibilities

• Operate ultrasound equipment to its full capability with knowledge of A-mode, M-mode, B-mode, Doppler, and real time techniques.
• Maintain image production quality by following standards and procedures; recognize diagnostic quality scans and artifacts.
• Identify patient service requirements by establishing rapport with patients and others.
• Ensure operation of ultrasound equipment by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and calling for repairs.
• Maintain ultrasound supplies inventory and place orders as needed.
• Comply with federal, state and local requirements and advise management on actions.
• Maintain professional knowledge by attending workshops and reviewing publications.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures.
• Gain patient cooperation by explaining treatment and answering questions.
• Prepare patient for ultrasound procedure and position equipment accordingly.
• Protect patients and staff by infection-control policies.
• Document patient care services by charting in records.
• Contribute to team by achieving related results.
• Receive verbal orders for examinations from a licensed practitioner.
