Job summary

Good Samaritan Canistota is seeking a Medication Assistant (MA) to support residents with daily living activities and nursing care. The role involves administering prescribed medications under supervision, monitoring resident health, and ensuring a warm, compassionate environment aligned with our Christian mission.

The MA will assist with transfers, mobility, meals, and psychosocial support, while documenting care and communicating changes to the charge nurse.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, not required.
• Iowa/Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota CMA/CMA-like credentials required where applicable.
• Must maintain CNA certification and comply with state regulations.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance.
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse.
• Document outcomes and communicate changes to the charge nurse.
• Assist with transfers, range of motion, and dining activities.
