Job summary

Indiana University Health in Plainfield, IN is seeking a PRN Pharmacy Technician to support inventory, preparation, distribution and processing of medications under pharmacist supervision. The shift is primarily Mondays and Tuesdays 11am–3pm, with potential for more hours as operations grow.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training or Technician license required.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification within 1 year of hire.
• No criminal history related to working with drugs.
• Strong math calculation skills required.
• Ability to learn pharmacy technician tasks under supervision.
• Ability to learn and apply written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn and deliver good customer service.
• Typing and basic Microsoft Office skills.

Description

This is a PRN Pharmacy Technician position located in Plainfield, IN at IU Health's Integrated Service Center on the Central Distribution Team. The main hours for this shift will be Mondays and Tuesdays 11am - 3pm with the opportunity for increased hours as operations expand. Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in one or more of the following areas: inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, specialty medications, and medication histories. Assists with all functions required for medication processing including answering telephones, taking refill orders, entering orders into system, preparing the medication for pharmacist check, preparing medications for disbursement/shipment/delivery. Key job duties may consist of handling supplies, stocking prepackaged items, maintaining inventory, delivering supplies, maintaining records, distributing supplies. May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of I.V. solutions. Works with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors.

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Requires Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• Requires Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or enrolled in or graduated from an ASHP/ACPE accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
• Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
• Requires strong mathematical calculation skills.
• Requires ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills in assigned areas and work under close supervision or under clearly defined procedures.
• Requires ability to learn effective written and communication skills.
• Requires ability to learn and execute customer services skills.
• Requires basic proficiency typing and using Microsoft office applications.
