Job summary

IU Health in Plainfield, IN is seeking a PRN Pharmacy Technician for the Integrated Service Center on the Central Distribution Team. The main shift is Mondays and Tuesdays from 11am to 3pm, with potential for more hours as operations expand.

The role supports the pharmacy team under supervision, handling inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, and medication histories, and requires strong math and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or enrolled in or graduated from an ASHP/ACPE accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
• No criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
• Strong mathematical calculation skills.
• Ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills in assigned areas and work under close supervision or under clearly defined procedures.
• Ability to learn effective written and communication skills.
• Ability to learn and execute customer services skills.
• Basic proficiency typing and using Microsoft office applications.

Responsibilities

• Support the pharmacy department in inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, specialty medications, and medication histories.
• Assist with medication processing tasks: answering phones, taking refill orders, entering orders, preparing meds for pharmacist check, and for disbursement/shipment/delivery.
• Handle supplies, stock prepackaged items, maintain inventory, deliver supplies, maintain records, and distribute supplies.
• May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of IV solutions.
• Collaborate with pharmacy staff to minimize potential medication errors.

Description

This is a PRN Pharmacy Technician position located in Plainfield, IN at IU Health's Integrated Service Center on the Central Distribution Team. The main hours for this shift will be Mondays and Tuesdays 11am - 3pm with the opportunity for increased hours as operations expand.

Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in one or more of the following areas: inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, specialty medications, and medication histories. Assists with all functions required for medication processing including answering telephones, taking refill orders, entering orders into system, preparing the medication for pharmacist check, preparing medications for disbursement/shipment/delivery. Key job duties may consist of handling supplies, stocking prepackaged items, maintaining inventory, delivering supplies, maintaining records, distributing supplies. May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of I.V. solutions. Works with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors.
