Job summary

Bowhead seeks a Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Technician to provide Base Telecom Support at Everett, WA. The role includes operating and maintaining government-owned PBX switches, including Avaya CM4.0, and provides O&M for telecom systems.

The position requires in-office and infield work with weekly travel, troubleshooting, software updates, and hardware installation. On-the-job training is offered after 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in IT or Cybersecurity (preferred).
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years of relevant experience required; 5 years preferred.
• Prior DoD network experience highly preferred.
• IAT Level II (DoD 8570.01-M) required; COMPTIA Security+ preferred for II.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain government PBX telephony switches (PBX) including Avaya CM4.0.
• Troubleshoot and repair switch issues; perform software updates and patching.
• Install and configure switch hardware; daily operation monitoring.
• Travel to remote locations weekly using company vehicle.
• Ensure switch systems remain compliant with DoD/Navy standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Technician (PSTS-2026-)

Bowhead seeks a Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Technician to provide Base Telecom Support at the Everett, WA. The Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Technician effort will provide telecommunications operations and maintenance (O&M). This position will require both in office and infield experience and duties.

On-job and verification training is offered for all full-time Bowhead employees after 30 days of employment.

Job Duties

• Operate and maintain government-owned telephony switches (PBX), including:
  • Avaya Systems CM4.0
• Perform:
  • Troubleshooting and repair of switch issues
  • Software updates and patching
  • Installation and configuration of switch hardware
  • Daily operation monitoring
  • Support for voicemail systems and IPE (Remote Intelligent Peripheral Equipment)
• Utilize company vehicle to travel to remote locations weekly.
• Ensure switch systems remain fully operational and compliant with DoD/Navy standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

• Associate’s degree or higher in IT or Cybersecurity (preferred)
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• 2 years of relevant experience required.
• 5 years relevant experience is preferred.
• Prior experience within DoD networks highly preferred.

Required Skills or Certifications

• IAT Level II (per DoD 8570.01-M)
• IAT Level II candidates should possess COMPTIA Security+.
• Certification reimbursement will be offered after 30 days of employment.

• Avaya Certified Support Specialist (ACSS) or equivalent.
• Nortel Meridian System Administration or equivalent.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

Targeted Pay Range

Targeted pay range is $36.44/hr - $45.00/hr based on interview and experience.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.

Security Clearance Requirements

Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
